Guzheng

 

 

The guzheng, also known as zheng, is a Chinese plucked zither. The modern guzheng commonly has 21, 25, or 26 strings. Hardly used outside China, concertos for the instrument are hard to find. I selected one composed by Chang Ping, titled "The Wind Washed Clouds". it is played by Ji Wei with the China National Symphony Orchestra under Lin Tao on Naxos.
