The bass clarinet plays an octave lower than the regular clarinet, and has been used on many occasions in compositions by the likes of Berlioz, Wagner and Liszt. Concertos for the instrument are rather rare though (Aho composed one, but at the time of writing that was not recorded yet). I opted for a very recent one (1925) by Joseph Phibbs, played by Carl Johan Stjernström with the Malmö Symphony Orchestra under Joachim Gustafsson on Toccata.
