The bass drum is an untuned percussion instrument. Given the inherent lack of variety in its sound, it is hardly suitable as a solo concertante instrument. However, I have encountered one concerto for bass drum and orchestra, composed in 2018 by Gabriel Prokofiev (grandson of Sergej). It is played by Joby Burgess with the Ural Philharmonic Orchestra under Alexei Bogorad on Signum Classics.
