Electric Violin

The electric violin is a violin equipped with an electronic output of its sound, developed in the 1920's. Not surprisingly, it is not a common instrument in classical music, but a few concertos have been published since the seventies, by the likes of Riley and Wuorinen. I chose the most famous one, by John Adams (from 2003), titled "The Dharma at Big Sur". It is played by Tracy Silverman with the BBC Symphony Orchestra under the composer on Nonesuch.
