Electric Piano

The electric piano is a musical instrument that has a piano-style keyboard, where sound is produced by means of mechanical hammers striking metal strings leading to vibrations which are converted into electrical signals by pickups. These are connected to an instrument amplifier and loudspeaker to reinforce the sound for the performer and audience to hear. A novelty around 1930, Roy Harris was the only composer of name to compose a concerto for the instrument. It is played by Johanna Harris with the Orchestra of the International String Congress under the composer on Citadel.
