The banjo is a stringed instrument that originated from Africa. By the early 20th century, the banjo was most frequently associated with folk, cowboy music, and country music. It is a highly unusual instrument for classical music, but a few concertos exist. I selected one from the late 20th century by Tim Lake, titled "An American Concerto". It is played by the composer with the Atlanta-Emory Orchestra under Jere Flint on Padraig Records.
