Accordion

The accordion is the main member of the concertina family (the bandoneon and the bayan have their own entries). The instrument is associated more often with folk music than classical music - still, perhaps surprisingly, there have been a considerable number of concertos composed for it, by the likes of Aho, Beamish, and Tiensuu to name a few. I have selected the concerto by Maltese composer Charles Camilleri. It is played by Franko Bozac with the Malta Philharmonic Orchestra under Miran Vaupotić on Naxos.
