Yangqin

The yangqin is a Chinese hammered dulcimer, likely derived from the Iranian santur or the European dulcimer. Its use in classical music is obviously limited to Chinese composers. I am aware of only one concerto for yangqin and orchestra, composed by Xu Jingxin and titled Rain by Night. It is played by Li Xiao Yuan and the Singapore Chinese Orchestra under Ku Lap-man on a Yellow River CD.
