The heckelphone is a rare, low-register member of the oboe family invented in 1904. Only 170 heckelphones were ever produced, so it is no surprise that there is not much use for it in classical music. Still, Swiss-born composer Fabian Müller composed a concerto for this rarity. It is played by Martin Frutiger with the Royal Czech Symphonia under Kaspar Zehnder on Ars.
