Dizi

The dizi is the most common version of the Chinese bamboo flute. A number of Chinese classical music composers have written concertos for this traditional instrument in recent decades. I selected the one by Guo Wenjing, titled Chou Kong Shan (Sorrowful Empty Mountain), probably composed around 2000. The performance is by Tang Junqiao with the Shanghai Symphony Orchestra under Huang Yi on SMPH.
